Near Peer Pedagogies for Culturally Sustaining Computer Science and Mathematics

In this study, College STEM Literacy Workers act as co-teachers in 9th and 10th grade classrooms alongside mathematics teachers as they both learn to integrate a 30-hour integrated computer science/mathematics curriculum. As part of the curriculum for educator learning, we adapted the Algebra Project’s “Model of Excellence” for culturally relevant-sustaining pedagogies.

September 24, 2020 :: Fall eNewsletter

We hope that you and your family are doing well in these trying times. As many of your own lives have been upended by the Coronavirus crisis, YPP as well has been working to adjust our work to safely continue to serve our students in our communities and pursue our mission to improve the outcomes of youth, through the catalyst of STEM literacy.

This summer we learned a lot about how our work can continue to grow and to evolve -- we’d like to share some highlights of this journey with you (below.)  As we move into the Fall 2020-21 school year, in all of its forms, we hope to take these lessons forward and look forward to serving our students and sharing updates with you along the way!
