We hope that you and your family are doing well in these trying times. As many of your own lives have been upended by the Coronavirus crisis, YPP as well has been working to adjust our work to safely continue to serve our students in our communities and pursue our mission to improve the outcomes of youth, through the catalyst of STEM literacy.
This summer we learned a lot about how our work can continue to grow and to evolve -- we’d like to share some highlights of this journey with you (below.) As we move into the Fall 2020-21 school year, in all of its forms, we hope to take these lessons forward and look forward to serving our students and sharing updates with you along the way!

We hope you are staying safe during these unprecedented times. Here at YPP we have been working to adapt our teaching, learning and organizing to accommodate the numerous and often changing circumstances as a result of the global response to the COVID19 epidemic.
Below are some highlights of what we have been up to and what we are looking forward to!
Additionally, we urge you on this special #GivingTuesdayNow, to consider a donation to YPP (or another organization that you care about in your community.)
We join the Giving Tuesday movement in our belief that generosity has the power to unite and heal communities in good times and bad. A global threat like COVID-19 touches every person on the planet, and it presents an opportunity to come together as a global community. Let’s come together to create a wave of generosity, citizen engagement, action from business and philanthropy, and support for communities and nonprofits around the world.

3rd Annual National Flagway Tournament in Washington!
This year’s 3rd Annual National Flagway Tournament took place at the National Math Festival in Washington D.C. on Saturday May 4th. Over 75 students from YPP programs in seven cities, including Alton (IL), Boston, Cambridge, Chicago, Mansfield (OH), Norfolk (VA), and Washington, D.C., competed for the title of best Flagway players in the country! The students were coached by their high school Math Literacy Workers (MLWs) and cheered on by many of their parents as well as attendees of the festival. In addition to the tournament, YPP high school students hosted multiple Flagway-themed and coding tabletop games during the festival. In all the MLWs engaged over 2000 children and adults across the two days of the convening!
