Happy New Year 2021!

Happy New Year! We hope that you and your family are well and that you continue to thrive and persevere through these difficult times.

We want to thank you for being part of YPP’s giving community. Your financial and moral support is integral to YPPs work, it’s mission, and success. Davidson, Shuhana, Shawn and the entire YPP family, are grateful for any support you are able to give as we close out 2020 and welcome in 2021!

“After joining YPP, my mentality began to grow in a path that I could never have anticipated. This deep, underlying thought built up, 'Our education system is highly flawed.' I began to realize that our education system treats every student the same, and that they only see one path to success. What stuck to me was the fact that everybody learns differently and at different paces...This is something that YPP has helped me realize and it’s something that I’ve personally decided to start tackling...I believe that underneath the math, this job is helping teens realize the worth and importance of challenging what most people don’t even dare to question, it’s creating a deep sense of urgency in our future leaders and that’s why I’m happy I chose YPP!"

“YPP has allowed me to step out of my comfort zone and become a leader when I am facilitating. I was never the one to step out and lead something but YPP has given me the chance to try something new and discover a new skill that I never knew I had. This is also my first job that I have had and it has taught me some leadership, communication, planning, organizing and many other skills that I will need in the future.

Shuhana Noor, High School Math Literacy Worker, YPP

“When I was a [High School] Math Literacy Worker I learned facilitation, agenda planning, teaching k-12 STEM literacy, and so much more. Now, embarking on my fifth year in YPP, and my first year as a college Math Literacy Worker, I’ve been exercising the skills of program developing, grant writing, and computer science: coding python. The work that we do at YPP is revolutionary for students and for workers. I love that we can create a fun learning environment with a multi-layered curriculum of STEM literacy. And most importantly, be able to mentor many students from my community and see them achieve greatness.
