Age: 18, just graduated high school

How long have you been doing YPP: 4 years.

How did you first hear about YPP: I signed up for the Mayor’s programs for the summer and then choose that site for me, so I didn’t really go there on my own, I just got directed there.

What do you enjoy most about YPP: I enjoy the relationship between the youth that we work with and the youth that we teach, and I like being consistent with YPP so I can see the growth of the students that we teach and we help out.

How has YPP affected you: Public speaking, definitley, learning how to network, remembering what it’s like to be a kid, you know knowing their struggles, not every kid is the same. Remembering how it is to be stuck in a classroom and not be able to walk around or have an elective that you like going to.

Do you have any favorite YPP stories or memories?

I remember one of the kids from last year, he used to be a kid who just stayed in the back and didn’t really participate, so one day he finally joined. And he was really proud of himself that we were playing balance the equation and he got it, and he just lit up.

Other interests: Well right now I’m really excited to go to college. I’m going to be a nursing major at Labouré, so yeah that’s one of them. I like reading, hanging out, just typical stuff.
