Position: College Math Literacy Worker
School, year: Colby-Sawyer College, Sophmore
I started YPP when I was 10 in the summer 1998
“There is no leaving YPP. People go on to college and graduate and still come back. I personally left for a while and still found my way back. YPP is a home for a lot of us.”
I like the strategy YPP is using to change society. A lot of organizations just go out and try to build parks and speak to the community but YPP has taken it to another level by providing such a program that incorporates math.
I used to be just a kinesthetic learner; today I am able to learn in all ways, visually and by listening. I work better in groups now, whereas before I used to work in groups and try to do all the work by myself, now I’m open to all ideas and make it a group effort.
Importance of YPP: I believe the importance of YPP is to make a difference in our community by helping the kids who we work with help their community.
