Dear YPP Friends and Family,
We would like you to join us in launching our new web site, www.typp.org.
We are proud to be able to share our work of, “Investing in Young People Who Invest in Each Other”.
What started in a math classroom in Mississippi over 10 years ago has resulted in programs in over ten states that have engaged thousands of young people to become successful academically, professionally, and personally.
As we have grown we have created spaces for young people to use math literacy as an entry point to make a demand for a high quality education, to think about what it means to be a citizen of this country and the world, to organize and take action around issues that are important to them, their peers and communities.
Whether it’s in partnership with the Algebra Project (www.algebra.org) to demonstrate what is required to prepare students at the bottom quartile academically for 21st Century Citizenship., or Finding Our Folk (www.findingourfolk.org) where young people have come together to help their brothers and sisters in New Orleans and the Gulf Coast fight the social, environmental and economic injustices they face, or Quality Education as a Constitutional Right (www.qecr.org) where young people have begun to join their voices to make a historical demand for a constitutional amendment guaranteeing high quality education for all children in the country, we are proud to say that The Young People’s Project continues in the footsteps of those who have challenged America to live up to its democratic ideals.
Our work is not done, in fact we are just beginning. The challenges that are defining our lives and will define the quality of life for future generations -- technological innovation, globalization and climate change -- are accelerating. We need your help to create more opportunities for young people to invest in each other and their future. YPP is seeking to develop local and national trainers, who prepare high school and college students to use their unique talents and gifts to help others learn. YPP seeks to hire local and national organizers, who help young people come together to develop platforms which harness the power of their culture to promote and value what is and will be required for individual and community success and well being; which support, challenge and demand that institutions and systems, created to serve their families and communities, function effectively; which create opportunities for young people to become a part of the political process and take direct action with their voice and their values.
Click here to go to our website and find out how you can help us create more opportunities for young people to invest in each other. Visit our profiles and find out what we have to say about our work and what these investments have done for us and our communities. Feel free to leave us feedback and any information you might find helpful.
Thank you again for your continued support of our program. Together, we can continue to create a culture where young people are accountable to themselves and each other that will have an impact for generations to come.
Sincerely,

Omo Moses
