MLK Day at City Year!

On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, six Math Literacy Workers (MLWs) and College MLWs and three YPP staff facilitated a one hour math workshop for 70 City Year Boston Corp Members.

During this workshop, the MLWs each had a group where they introduced "Number Munchers" a math game YPP created to help 3rd and 4th graders master multiplication.  City Corps members brainstormed new games they could play based on our activity and how they might adapt the activity for higher levels of math.

YPP was invited by City Year and Primary Source, the organization that was leading the training for the day.

"First and most important, thank you again for the energizing and inspiring session that you brought to City Year Boston last week! Your YPP mentors--adult and young adult--were impressive and engaging all around.  It was a wonderful hands-on workshop and a great demonstration of the power of your work. We are most grateful you were able to organize such a big crew on short notice and recognize the effort and care that took!"
