In YPP MS, we nearing the end of the end of our Spring outreach session. This session we worked with 14 MLW's and over 100 middle school aged children at 3 sites. We also began piloting a Math Literacy Program in McComb, MS with 1 CMLW, 5 MLW's and 25 middle school students. We have participated in the National Youth Listening Tour, and the US Department of Education Youth Summit. The MS students went a couple of days early to meet with Teaching for Change and to talk to students at several schools in D.C.
At the end of April, we also hosted a YPP Dinner where we invited students, parents, and other community members to learn about YPP and to ask questions. The high school MLW's led the event and told their YPP stories to the audience. We also informed them of our STEM Institute in Jackson this summer for rising 6th-8th graders. There is a year end Math Bash planned for May 20. We are also getting our team geared up to participate in the Freedom Riders 50th anniversary conference in Jackson at the end of May.
