What does YPP mean to you?

Mr. Sykes

Albert

The AP 25th anniversary conference provided a very rare opportunity to convene YPP's founders, past members, and current members. This was a very special event in that we were able to connect YPP's beginnings with it's present work and really share the story of what is YPP.

Many young people were touch by the stories of the lives of the young people who banded themselves together to comprise what became YPP. The Algebra Project was the catalyst for the relationships that built YPP. The moments of reflection that were shared at the gathering gave everyone some insight into the daily struggles we each endured. I was honestly very grateful not only to the founders, but also the youth of Chicago, Miami and Baltimore that shared their own experiences and their visions for what YPP will become. We all rode the emotional wave back down memory lane and recollected on serious times and trials as well as humorous ones. Through each story, it became apparent that YPP meant so much to so many people around the country. I would like to extend thanks to all who have helped drive this work thus far and those who have committed to taking the work to new heights. We love to hear how YPP has impacted people's lives and invite you to e-mail your stories to myself or Chad so that we can post some of them. My e-mail address is sykes.albert @gmail.com and Chad can be reached at cmilner @typp.org
