we are free at last!"
Martin Luther King’s historic words ran through my body, as Barack Hussein Obama became the 44th president of the United States. Our new president has brought a positive energy to the people along with hope and opportunity. We are at the dawn of a new world where not only the United States “is ready to lead again” its young people are ready to lead. Local and Federal policies have controlled its people through fear and injustices. The road to freedom will be lengthy; we must take back our government. Our country was founded on the principals that “a government for the people and by the people” shall be liberated by the people. For far too long we have let the “other” take control of government. For far too long we have let young mothers fight alone while raising their children, for far too long we have oppressed undocumented immigrants and for far too long we have let the ideologies of ignorant minds run our lives. To over come such great obstacles we must come together in solidarity. Only through releasing our prejudices beliefs will we be able to fight through the long cold nights of oppression. Once again we will be united.
