What young people LIKE and Dislike about Cambridge

What young people like about Cambridge…

 

  1. The diversity and ability to take public transportation or walk to close distances

  2. The diversity in Cambridge allows people to learn from different experiences

  3. The fact that Cambridge is clean allows for a healthier living environment

  4. The public parks allow people to spend time with others and have fun.

  5. Harvard Square brings people from all over the world.

  6. Cambridge is youth-centered which gives young people the opportunity to experience out of school activities.  

  7. Being close to public transportation.

  8. The youth-focused programs help young people learn academically and improve their social skills.

  9. The youth centers in Cambridge help families come together and offer different programs for youth.  



What young people dislike about Cambridge…

 

  1. The fact that Cambridge is small leads to the lack of diversity

  2. The unnecessary violence in Cambridge keeps people from being safe.  

  3. Where there is a high percentage of poverty it is more likely to be dirty and unsanitary.

  4. The lack of affordable housing is making Cambridge less diverse.

  5. The racial segregation between the different cultures in Cambridge prevents people from breaking stereotypes.

  6. The City Council has done little or nothing to lower the homeless rates in Cambridge.

  7. Cambridge does not feel safe in certain parts of the city.

  8. The police constantly harass young people.  

  9. The lack of internship that the public schools provide affects job and educational opportunities.

  10. The lack of after school programs in Cambridge.

  11. The lack of support from schools of higher education such as Harvard University and MIT.

  12. Rindge and Latin is extremely dirty and it can become an unsafe learning environment.
