Omo
Well, it has taken 2 more months than planned for my second entry.

I have been to Mississippi and back a couple times since then. Albert and I drove through the Delta last month to Indianola where we did an interview with Sade Turnipseed, Director of Education & Community Outreach for the BB King Museum & Delta Interpretive Center. We toured the Museum, slated to open on September 13th and were given our own Hohner harmonicas along with instructions on how to play it and a song, When the Saints Go Marching In. Albert took three home, one for himself and one each for Ethan and Aiden.
I have been reading a book called Theory U written by Otto Scharmer, a very smart guy from MIT. Couldn't help but think about some of what he talks about while driving along the hwy and looking out onto what has grown from the legendary delta top soil.
A field is a living system, just as earth is a living organism. A field contains elements that are visible (above the surface) and elements that are invisible (below the surface). The top soil is where the visible and invisible intertwine. Social Fields are the grounding conditions, the living soil, from which grows that which only later becomes visible to the eye. A Farmer focuses attention on sustaining and enhancing the quality of the soil. An Organizational Leader focuses attention on sustaining and enhancing the quality of the social field.
Congratulations to the Algebra Project on 25 years of helping young people farm their minds and for what has emerged.
